Ambassador Juris Maklakovs: We wish to see cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia as mutual and multilateral

Baku, November 24, AZERTAC Latvia's interest in cooperation with Azerbaijan is that of a long term, and Latvia will strive to achieve all commitments. We also wish to see this cooperation as mutual and multilateral, said Ambassador Juris Maklakovs at the reception marking the Latvian Independence Day in Baku. Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan Juris Maklakovs highlighted his country`s history of independence. He said spoke of relations between the two countries: "We have been involved in the preparation and implementation of many important tasks that were crowned with the official visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev to Latvia in July of this year." The diplomat stressed the importance of signing the several documents, including the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between our countries: "We are proud to have such a good political relations and I am sure that it will also boost our economic cooperation, keeping in mind that next year our countries are going to celebrate 100-year-anniversaries of their independence." He touched upon the new projects, adding these projects will focus not only on the economic relations or transit, but also on culture, education. tourism and other fields. The ambassador wished for a further development of relationship between the two countries that would bring welfare to both countries` nations. Azerbaijan`s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bagirov congratulated the people of Latvia on the Independence Day on behalf of the people and the Government of Azerbaijan. Huseyngulu Bagirov said the two countries have recently undertaken many steps to develop bilateral relations. He also said that a lot of reciprocal visits have recently taken place between Azerbaijan and Latvia. The event was attended by Azerbaijani state and governmental officials, foreign ambassadors, as well as a delegation of Latvia. In November 1918, an act of independence was declared in Riga, according to which Latvia became an independent state.
