AMBASSADOR OF MONGOLIA TO MONGOLIANS IN S.KOREA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Baasanjav Ganbold, from Mongolia to the Republic of Korea made a statement to the Mongolians in the country on April 10th, reported the "news.mn" site Wednesday. Mr Ganbold says,“Many Mongolians are concerned over the current situation in the Korean Peninsula and have approached to the Embassy in South Korea. Due to these circumstances I want to share my stance and views with you. In recent days North Korea has been releasing several strong statements targeting the Republic of Korea and there has been an ever-growing war of words between the two sides causing tension and uncertain in the Korean Peninsula. Embassy clearly understands and is observing the current situation analyzing international media reports and hearing from officials in the country exchanging views. The current uncertainty is seen as a result of strong conflict of information and propaganda. A state of war is not really anticipated at this time. North Korea is unlikely to start a full-blown war and South Korea is not expected to take the first move. Most analysts, politicians and defense officials say that there is not a state of war yet on the Korean Peninsula. But no one can say there will not be provocation or a minor incident. The Government of South Korea confirms that the armed forces can and will protect the country. There is no ground for Mongolia and the Embassy of Mongolia to feel doubt about the country`s stand on the situation. We believe North Korea will deal with the current uncertainty. You can see this reflected in ordinary Korean people's peaceful lifestyle and work. Therefore I want to appeal to you to keep staying calm and to focus on further work and study. I affirm that the Embassy of Mongolia is responsible for contacting our Mongolian nationals and receiving your opinions and complaints and for taking direct measures if necessary.”
