Ambassador to Turkey meets K.Yurtnac

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Republic of Turkey B.Batkhishig Monday met Mr Kemal Yurtnac, a head of the Prime Minister's department for Turks living abroad and family reunification. They discussed issues related to the Mongolian students studying in Turkey such as their quota, selection and professions. The Ambassador sounded some statistics, for example, 95 Mongolian students enrolled in universities and institutes with governmental scholarships in Turkey, then this number declined to 52 in 2012 and to 47 this year. By this reason the Ambassador suggests that the Turkish side holds the Mongolians' number at 90 at least. To this, Mr Yurtnac said it would be possible in case the Mongolian students satisfy criteria and examination. The Ambassador asked Mr Yurtnac whether it is possible to let the Mongolian Ministry of Education and Science take part in these selection and exams. The Turkish side replied that it can take proposals from our Ministry on these matters and let its delegates partake in the selection. Since 1992, the government of Turkey and its academic funds have given scholarships to some 1,000 Mongolian students. For the time being, 850 Mongolians are studying in Turkey, a half of them are provided with the governmental scholarships.
