AMBASSADOR OF TURKEY VISITS MONTSAME

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Turkey to Mongolia, Mr Mustafa Sarnich visited the MONTSAME, Mongolia's national news agency on September 13. The Director-General of the MONTSAME Ms S.Altantsetseg received the Ambassador. She thaked him for visiting our Agency and then spoke about the MONTSAME's history, activities and policy tendencies. In response, Mr Sarnich said he receives the latest news from the MOTSAME every morning and thanked for warmly welcoming him. He said the MONTSAME occupies a honourable place in Mongolia's press and media promptly spreading the news and information about Mongolia, and said the MONTSAME and the Turkish ANADOLU agencies are of the same status. Mr Ambassador said he is glad to cooperate in future, and informed that a possibility exists to send the MONTSAME reporters' group to Turkey through the ANADOLU channels to share experiences, adding he will give all support to this. Mongolia and Turkey have experience in exchanging journalists, and Mr Sarnich will continue and develop this relationship, he said. Mr Ambassador said he is glad to meet with the Director-General of the MONTSAME Ms Altantsetseg, and then spoke about his work. The two Agencies have close working ties, and the Ambassador is ready to strengthen this cooperation and to give all possible support to the two coutries' relationship. In turn, Ms Altantsetseg said the MONTSAME will continue deliver news through reliable sources and that she will cooperate with the Embassy closely. The Embassy of Turkey actively works on strengthening of the cooperation on the two countries' news agencies, for example, according to the exchange journalist program, initiated by the General Department of Press of Turkey, a three-people group from the MONTSAME visited Turkey in June of 2009, made DVD about Turkey and broadcast it here through several channels. A four-people group from the ANADOLU and National television of Turkey visited Mongolia and signed a protocol on cooperation between the MONTSAME and the ANADOLU in July of 2009. Our Agency a member of the Organization of Asia Pacific News Agency /OANA/ and elected the member of its Board council. Within this, the MONTSAME and the ANADOLU have been also cooperating. The President of OANA is the Director-General of the ANADOLU. The Embassy of Turkey plays important role in establishing relations between the two countries' news agencies. Moreover, the Embassy always informs the Mongolian side of actions it runs here, also of events taking place in Turkey, projects and programmes implemented here by Turkey. B.Oyundelger
