AmCham hosts breakfast meeting with U.S Congressional delegation

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Mongolia hosted special members-only breakfast meeting last Sunday, sponsored by its member Wagner Asia Equipment LLC featuring the U.S. Congressional Delegation led by Peter Roskam, David Price, US Congressmen; Jennifer Zimdahl Galt, U.S Ambassador to Mongolia; and B.Altangerel, Ambassador of Mongolia to the USA. The meeting convened over 50 participants including executive leaders of AmCham members and representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia who discussed and exchanged ideas to promote and bolster the U.S. – Mongolia bilateral relationship with the members of Congress. The U.S. Congressional Delegation is traveling to Mongolia as part of the House Democracy Partnership’s (HDP) Member Outbound Program, which seeks to build up the legislative capacities, including parliamentary operations, policy questions, bilateral relations and regional issues of partner countries. U.S Ambassador to Mongolia Jennifer Zimdahl Galt noted during her remarks that, “I am convinced that U.S. Government efforts – in conjunction with the efforts of U.S. private investors and companies and partners like AmCham Mongolia – can and will play a significant part in enhancing Mongolia’s economic vitality, which will in turn help strengthen its democracy and hence its stability,” Peter Roskam, Congressman and Chairman of the House Democracy Partnership said, “Mongolia is becoming a true role model for other Asian Nations on how great democracy can be,” “We have a great desire to partner with Mongolia and help them to succeed,” said The Honorable David Price, Congressman and Ranking member of House Democracy Partnership, during his speech. AmCham Mongolia will host its third annual U.S. Trade Mission on June 20-24th, 2016 in Washington, DC to help Mongolian businesses to develop a strong network in the U.S., seize real business development opportunities with American companies, and advocate for policy issues that are important to Mongolia with U.S. policymakers. AmCham Mongolia is an independent membership-driven organization that seeks to build, strengthen, and protect business between the United States and Mongolia and to actively promote Mongolia as a destination for American investment. AmCham Mongolia is the official local affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the largest business federation in the world with over 3 million member companies. As part of AmCham Mongolia’s mission to promote the U.S.-Mongolia relationship, AmCham regularly hosts high-ranking visiting dignitaries and private sector representatives from the U.S. and will host the visiting U.S. Agricultural Trade Delegation coming to Mongolia on June 14, 2016.
