Amir Abollahian Leaves For Moscow

Tehran, June 30, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdolahian left Tehran for Moscow early Monday morning for meeting and consultations with Russian officials. Amir Abollahian is expected to discuss the regional developments, the malicious extremism phenomenon, Iraq status quo, Syria, Palestine, and Bahrain, in addition to bilateral relations and particularly Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, in his talks with Russian President’s Special Envoy Michael Bogdanov. Iran said last Tuesday it expected to sign a deal with Russia in late August on the building of two new 1,000-megawatt nuclear reactors in the Islamic Republic. Russia is one of six world powers negotiating with Iran on a long-term agreement to end a decade-old dispute over Tehranˈs peaceful nuclear program. Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of Iranˈs atomic energy organization, too, will go to Moscow to finalize the reactor contract and construction may start early next year, IRNA had earlier reported./end
