Ankara hosts 7th meeting of Azerbaijan-Turkey Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission

Ankara, July 10 (AzerTAc). The 7th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission has been held in Ankara. An Azerbaijani delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister, co-chair of the commission Abid Sharifov met with Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz on the sidelines of the event. The sides exchanged views over economic relations, tangible results and prospects of energy cooperation between the two countries. Opening the 7th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, co-chair of the commission Besir Atalay spoke of the work done since the 6th meeting of the Commission. He described Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev`s words “One nation with two states” as an example for all. Azerbaijani Deputy Premier Abid Sharifov said President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the development strategy founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev. Sharifov expressed gratitude to Turkish government and people for supporting Azerbaijan`s position on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and stressed the dynamic development of relations between the two countries was a demand of brotherhood between the two nations. He underlined Azerbaijan would use every means to restore its internationally recognized territorial integrity. The two co-chairs stressed Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas projects played an important role in the economic development of the two countries. They also spoke of the importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, and stressed the role of TANAP, TAP and PETKIM projects in development of international economy and in the global energy security. The meeting discussed the expansion of bilateral relations in a number of fields, including economy, trade, science-industry, technology, energy, transport, communication, information technologies, agriculture, culture, tourism, environment, education, health and sports.
