Annan tells UN Security Council how impressed he was with Turkey's assistance to Syrians, says U.S. Ambassador Rice

UNITED NATIONS (AA) - April 12, 2012 - The Term President of the UN Security Council and Permanent Representative of the United States at the UN, Ambassador Susan Rice, on Thursday said that the joint UN and Arab League's special envoy Kofi Annan told the UN Security Council how impressed he was with Turkey's assistance to Syrians staying in Turkey. A meeting in which joint UN and Arab League's special envoy on Syria, Kofi Annan, briefed the UN Security Council members on Syria and the implementation of his six-article plan ended in New York on Thursday. Speaking to reporters after the closed door meeting, Susan Rice said that the Syrian army had to urgently return back to their barracks under the Annan plan. The UN Security Council began working on a resolution that would authorize it to send a delegation of observers to Syria, Rice also said.
