Anti-Syrian Coalition Suffering From Deep Divisions : Analyst

Ankara, May 22, IRNA – A political analyst with the Turkish daily Aksam said the anti-Syrian coalition is suffering from grave breaches. Talking to IRNA, Hassan Meheli made the comment in reference to the recent visit of the Saudi Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz to Turkey which he believed reveals the profound disagreement among the three countries forming the anti-Syrian coalition, namely Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. He said Turkey and Saudi Arabia, in an approach based on the international and regional political realities and the military situation in Syria, are trying to distance themselves from Qatar. Commenting on the objectives of the visit of the Saudi official to Turkey, he noted that it points to emergence of new trends in the region and in the world towards the Syrian developments. He described as a failure the recent trip of the Turkish premier to Washington to persuade the US to increase interventions in Syria and said Ankara and Riyadh are trying to work out a joint political position to end the Syrian crisis ahead of the Geneva-2 meeting. The journalist said Turkey and Saudi Arabia are trying to distance themselves from Qatar because of its hostile policies towards Syria which is brushing Doha aside in Syria./end
