Anti-terrorism to be key topic for discussion during Medvedev’s visit to Asia

MOSCOW, November 17 /TASS/. Struggle against terrorism will be one of the key topics for discussion during a visit by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to Asia, Russian First Vice-Premier Igor Shuvalov told journalists. "With all the tragedy of the situation, you know that this issue (struggle against terrorism) was discussed at the G20 and at a meeting of the BRICS leaders. Our president and the G20 partners discussed it in detail. Now, Dmitry (Medvedev) is going to Asia. He will have a busy agenda for the whole week to be dominated by these issues," Shuvalov said. The final declaration, which the G20 leaders adopted at the recent summit in Antalya, Turkey, said that the summit which opened a day after a series of bloody terror attacks in Paris demonstrated the determination of the world leaders to fight terrorism. All the G20 members understand that force should not be the only method to fight an evil like terrorism. It is also necessary to improve people’s living standards, the G20 declaration said. The G20 leaders described the terror attacks in Paris and Ankara as unacceptable for humanity. They also confirmed their solidarity and determination to fight terrorism in all its forms wherever it manifests itself. The G20 leaders pledged that their states would continue using economic levers to counteract terrorism. Read more
