APEC projects should unite this union’s members, not divide them - Putin

MOSCOW, November 19. /TASS/. Cooperation within the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum should unite its member states, but should not divide them, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a ceremony receiving credentials from ambassadors of foreign countries at the Kremlin on Wednesday. The Russian leader recalled that major APEC and G20 summits had been held recently. “Our joint work passed in a constructive atmosphere and brought good results,” he said. “We focused on how to ensure stabilisation of global economy, its steady growth, provide conditions for growing broad multifaceted international co-operation,” the president said, noting that “Agreements reached in Brisbane [at the G20 summit], including the launch of a global infrastructure initiative and establishment of a global infrastructure hub, settlement of employment issues, reforms of international economic institutions should promote settlement of current financial and economic problems,” he noted. “We believe that the vector in development of APEC trade and economic ties should be aimed at structures being created to be supplemented with current mechanisms of co-operation, should not disunite APEC states, but, on the contrary, should promote the pooling of joint effort,” Putin said.
