Arab Parliament stresses support or UAE's peaceful approach to Iran's occupation to the three Islands

CAIRO, 1st June 2016 (WAM) -- The Arab Parliament has confirmed its consistent and supportive stance towards the United Arab Emirates' peaceful approach to dealing with Iran's occupation of the UAE's three Islands, Abu Musa and Greater and Lesser Tunb, through dialogue and good neighbourliness, urging Iran to end the occupation of the three Islands through holding direct negotiations or resorting to the International Court of Justice. Addressing the fifth session of the first legislative term of Arab Parliament, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, renewed his call for the international community and UN to implement international resolutions through solving the Palestinian cause, establishing an Independent State of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital and deterring racial policies of Zionist entity against Palestinians. He affirmed that all these policies run counter to all international laws. He also renewed its call to all parliaments across the world to practice further pressures in order to recognise the Palestinian State for achieving justice and serving peace endeavours in the region and the whole world. He called for boycotting Israeli products in the occupied territories. Al-Jarwan commended Kuwait's hosting of the Yemeni peace talks aiming to support Yemen's dialogue, expressing hope that the current peace negotiations among Yemeni warring parties "would support Yemenis' will, and achieve security and stability and protect freedoms". He stressed the necessity of promoting joint Arab action so as to face local, regional and international challenges and risks that seek to tamper with institutions of Arab countries and control the destiny of Arabs. Al-Jarwan noted that the deteriorating situations and catastrophes of Syrian refugees in both neighbouring and European countries need immediate action to stop their suffering. "We launched the initiative of Arab Parliament with the goal to protect the rights of Syrian refugees through promoting cooperation with regional and international parliamentary organisations to find an urgent solution for refugees," Al-Jarwan said. He called, in the same context, for a comprehensive ceasefire deal in Syria to stop the bloodshed there, urging the international community to find a resolution to the Syrian crisis which has entered its sixth year. He confirmed to attendees that the Arab Parliament stands side by side with Iraqi people suffering from several difficult conditions like fighting Daesh and the siege imposed on some areas, mainly in Falluja. He also urged the international community to lift sanctions imposed on the Libyan Army to help fight terrorism, enforce law, protect Libyans and achieve security and stability, stressing his support for Libya's internationally recognised parliament. He praised the efforts exerted by Tunisia and Algeria to combat terrorism and maintain the safety and security of the region. Al-Jarwan called for backing for Arab countries suffering from difficult economic conditions like Somalia and Djibouti to keep their Arab identities. "The Arab Parliament looks forward that the next Arab Summit, due to be held in Mauritania, to promote Joint Arab action to overcome current conditions and achieve stability, security and prosperity of Arab nations," he said. - Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395296147732.html
