Araqchi: Bushehr Power Plant To Be Officially Handed To Iran In Few Weeks

Tehran, Aug 13, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi said here on Tuesday that the Bushehr nuclear power plant with its full capacity of generating one thousand megawatts of electricity will be officially handed over to Iran in the next few weeks. Asked about signing of a new atomic cooperation deal with Russia, he said talks about nuclear cooperation have always existed between the two countries. Addressing his weekly press briefing, he said the phase 1 of the Bushehr nuclear power plant is to be finally handed to Iran in the next few weeks, following which talks about the next phases will start with the Russian side. Commenting on reports about holding of negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 in September, he stressed that nothing new has happened in this regard yet. He said naturally no dates would be fixed before the new Iranian cabinet is settled and the new president assigns his own negotiation team./end
