Araqchi: Geneva Deal To Be Implemented Late January

Tehran, Dec 30, IRNA – Member of Irans nulcear negotiating team Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday that in case no problems arise, the Geneva deal between Iran and G5+1 will be implemented late January 2014. Speaking to a group of university students, he said Iran entered into nuclear talks with the West in full power. We held our negotiations from a point of strength and not weakness, he said. It was a scene for Iran and the West to show off their wills with Tehran being mighty enough to impose its will on the other side, he said. Enrichment of uranium is vital for the country's development, he said adding Iran could successfully impose its will on the other side. The country's military combat readiness is very high, he said, adding that Iran's military might in the domains of missiles and air defense is very exemplary. Our faith and the culture of martyrdom has increased our national security, he said. Enrichment of five percent uranium should be regarded as Iran's red line and this was approved in Geneva talks, he said. In the Geneva talks the US called for lowering level of Iran's enrichment to zero which was disapproved, Araqchi said. Any negotiation has psychological, media and propaganda consequences with all negotiators trying to employ them to attain their goals, he said. Talks with G5+1 in fact should be regarded as dialogue between Iran and other European countries, China, Russia and the US, he said. In short, Iran has negotiated with top world powers, Araqchi said. Some assume that Iran entered into talks with G5+1 under pressures from economic sanctions but Iran took part in the meeting from a point of strength, he said. Iran's will to continue uranium enrichment was recognized in the Geneva talks and this demonstrates the peoples will to tolerate all pressures and sanctions, Araqchi said./end
