Archdiocese Council Condemns Abduction Of Archbishops In Aleppo

Tehran, May 2, IRNA – Tehran Armeniansˈ Archdiocese Council on Wednesday condemned the kidnapping of two bishops in Syrian city of Aleppo, calling for their speedy release. A statement, issued by the Council, read, ˈAbout a week ago, the archbishop of the Orthodox church and Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church were kidnapped in northern parts of Aleppo and the efforts of local and regional officials to secure their release have thus far been futile. While condemning such acts taken against clergymen, including Muslims and Christians, the statement urged settlement of problems of both sides through dialog. Saying that Syria has always been a country of peace and dialog, the statement asked the kidnappers to release the abducted archbishops as soon as possible./end
