Army Commander: Suicidal drone’s maiden flight in war games

Jask, Dec 27, IRNA – Iranian Army Commander Major General Reza Pourdastan said here Friday that the Army used its new suicidal drone for the first time on the 2nd phase of Mohammad Messenger of Allah (P) war games on Friday. The 2nd phase of Mohammad Messenger of Allah (P) war games began on Friday morning in the presence of the commanders of the Joint Chief of Staff and the IRI Army in a 2,200 square kilometer area expanding from the eastern water of the Strait of Hormuz to the 10 degree northern waters of the Indian Ocean and vast areas in Iranian southern and eastern provinces. In the 2nd phase of the war game which was launched on Friday the Army drones flew massively, as a part of this phase of the war games. “One of the missions of the Army in this phase of the war games is using various drones of this force effectively,” added Major General Pourdastan in his interview with IRNA. He said that the Army used its drones in two phases, in first one they fly disguised as the mock enemy’s drones, and in the 2nd phase as the friend force’s drone. He said that thanks to the advancements achieved in Iranian aerospace engineering, the range of the Iranian drones has increased drastically and respectively, their operational capabilities, too, have increased. Commander Pourdastan said that the suicidal done, which was used for the first time in this war game’s operations can attack a suspicious target once it detects it. “This drone can be described as a mobile bomb, as a matter of fact,” he added.
