Arrogant Powers Supported Ignorant Elements In 2009 Events: Friday Prayer Leader

Tehran, Dec 27, IRNA – Tehrans Substitute Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani criticized the arrogant powers for supporting the ignorant elements behind the events in 2009, stressing that they miss no opportunity to inflict blows to Islam. Addressing the weekly prayers congregation in Imam Khomeini praying ground, the senior cleric referred to the arrogant powers’ enimosity with the Islamic Republic in the past 35 years. He said their backing the evil events in that year is a clear proof to this effect. Congratulating all Christians worldwide on Christmas Day, Ayatollah Kashani urged them to pay attention to the current situation in the world. Statesmen of the Christian world are out to counter Islam, Islamic establishment in Iran in particular, he noted. “They create problems for Muslim states by extending support to Takfiri and Salafi groups,” he said. Pointing to the crimes committed in Iraq and Syria by these groups, Friday prayer leader said that the arrogant powers are set to cause turbulence in the Islamic world. He also warned about divisions between the Shiites and Sunnis as a goal pursued by the enemies. Takfiris are committing crimes to distort the image of Muslim people and portrait them as murderers by fanning the flames of war between the Shiites and Sunnis. As to the recent Geneva deal between Iran and 5+1 Group, he said that the arrogant powers claimed that Iran was trying to build atomic bomb though Iran has always categorically denied the allegation. He said Iran has stated that it is just after nuclear technology. They wanted to take away nuclear science from Iran, he said. Referring to the Zionists’ attempts to counter Iran and impose new sanctions on the nation, Ayatollah Kashani said that the Zionists lobby in the US congress are exercising an embargo on news relating to Iran. While Zionists account for only five percent of the US population, the ayatollah noted, 80 percent of the Congress seats are occupied by them who want to introduce Iran as a source of insecurity in the world.
