Ashton Meets With SNSC Secretary

Tehran, March 10, IRNA – EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton who is on a visit to Iran, met and conferred with secretary of Iranˈs Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, on Sunday. Ashton, who is also the chief nuclear negotiator of the P5+1 with Iran on its nuclear program, arrived in Tehran on Saturday on an official visit at the invitation of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Ashton has held talks with Foreign Minister Zarif, President Hassan Rouhani, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and former SNSC secretary Saeed Jalili during her stay in Tehran. This is Ashton's first visit to Tehran.During her meetings with senior officials of the country, Ashton discussed Iran-EU ties. Ashton is scheduled to travel to historical city of Isfahan in central Iran on Monday to visit archeologial sites of the city./end
