Austrian Envoy Optimistic About Lifting Of Anti-Iran Sanctions

Tehran, Dec 8, IRNA - Austrian Ambassador to Tehran Friedrich Stift said on Saturday that Geneva talks were very promising as a result of which anti-Iran sanctions were partly lifted but it is expected that all sanctions would be removed in the near future. Speaking at a ceremony at Tehran University, he told reporters that it is expected that the next round of talks would lead to a final agreement and subsequently total lifting of sanctions. The Islamic Republic of Iran and Austria enjoy deeply rooted relations but due to economic sanctions the level of mutual trade exchange has decreased, he said, hoping that with lifting of sanctions bilateral cooperation would expand. The two countries can broaden cooperation in the fields of auto industry, oil and gas, he said. On cooperation between Iran and Austria in fighting air pollution, he said the Iranian government is now well aware of the fact and is determined to solve the issue./end
