Ayatollah Khamenei's Address Concerned With Humanity: Indian Scholar

New Delhi, Sept 3, IRNA – Appreciating Iran for successfully conducting the 16th NAM Summit with pride and conviction, despite the utmost efforts by arrogant powers, the US and Israel, to derail it, an eminent Indian religious scholar Sunday said that Ayatollah Khamenei’s inaugural address at the summit was concerned with humanity as a whole. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Maulana Syed Jalal Haider Naqvi, President Shaheed Mottahhari Society in New Delhi said, the Supreme Leader’s address will be proved significant and will be helpful in achieving the global peace. It will surely save the humanity from further destruction, he added. He noted that in light of Ayatollah’s address positive results can be achieved and the member states will be able to update the NAM’s vision regarding the new concepts of international peace and security. And that will give greater capacity of proposal so that such concepts be compatible with the reduction of tensions and conflicts, Jalal added. Justifying the Supreme Leader’s remarks on UN, Jalal who is also the Joint Secretary of the Majlis Ulema-e-Hind said that UN was created to work as an institution, but in recent years the credibility and effectiveness of the world body in relation to conflicts between states has been questioned. He urged the member states to unitedly maintain a firm position so that the UN would preserve its main responsibility in maintaining international security and peace without any discrimination. In reply to a question, the religious scholar said that the arrogant powers, particularly the US and Israel oppose the movement because it remains alive and steady with the value of anti-imperialism and anti-colonialism. What needed is more vitality in the movement, which can be injected through solidarity and cooperation among the member states, and that’s what the Supreme Leader has urged in his address, he added. Expressing support to Ayatollah Khamenei’s stand on Palestine, he urged the members states to give paramount importance to the nobel cause. “NAM’s member states should find out an early resolution in bringing an end to the long sufferings of the innocent Palestinian people,” he concluded./end
