Azerbaijan, China discuss prospects for cooperation in the field of information

Baku, April 23 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan and China have explored prospects for enhancing cooperation in the field of information as a delegation led by Editor-in-Chief of Global Times newspaper Hu Xijin visited the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc). They met AzerTAc Director General Aslan Aslanov, who spoke of the agency`s history. He highlighted national leader Heydar Aliyev`s attention to development of AzerTAc. Mr. Aslanov spoke of Azerbaijan`s achievements on the international scene. “Azerbaijan enjoys increasing prestige across the world under President Ilham Aliyev. The country has become the regional leader.” He said: “All these achievements have created new opportunities for expansion of international relations of AzerTAc, which entered the global news community.” Mr. Aslanov noted AzerTAc and China`s Xinhua News Agency had close cooperation. The Director General said the two agencies were members of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Asia and Pacific News Agencies (OANA). He hailed Xinhua News Agency`s supporting AzerTAc in international organizations. Hu Xijin said Azerbaijan was a country of political stability, democracy and tolerance, adding it can be a model to follow for other countries. Xijin pointed to opportunities for cooperation between the Global Times and AzerTAc. Mr. Aslanov said AzerTAc would launch Chinese language service soon. “So AzerTAc`s cooperation with the Chinese mass media, including the Global Times is of particular importance,” AzerTAc`s Director General added.
