Azerbaijan, Great Britain seek expansion of bilateral ties in various spheres

Baku, December 18 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met British Foreign Secretary William Hague who visited Baku to attend the Shah Deniz 2 Final Investment Decision Signing Ceremony. They discussed how to expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries in energy and other fields, as well as prospects for the Azerbaijan-European Union relations. The sides stressed the importance of signing the Shah Deniz 2 Final Investment Decision and role of Azerbaijan in Europe’s energy security. Foreign Secretary William Hague congratulated Azerbaijan on the signing of the Shah Deniz 2 Final Investment Decision. Hague hailed Azerbaijan’s support for international peace and security, especially NATO’s operations in Afghanistan. Minister Mammadyarov, in turn, gave information on the ongoing peace negotiations regarding settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Mammadyarov noted the occupation of the Azerbaijani lands by the Armenian troops was the main obstacle to the region’s security.
