Azerbaijan, NATO discuss cooperation prospects

Baku, July 8 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani minister of foreign affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has today met NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai. Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the cooperation with NATO. He stressed Azerbaijan takes an active part in NATO`s partnership programs as the Individual Partnership Action Plan and the Operational Planning and Analysis. The Azerbaijani FM said that the cooperation with NATO has greatly contributed to the reformation process in the Armed Forces and implementation of modern standards in the troops. In his turnç James Appathurai underlined that Azerbaijan`s contribution to NATO`s operations in Afghanistan as an active partner is highly appreciated by the Alliance. The sides exchanged views on the cooperation prospects between Azerbaijan and NATO and the issues on the agenda of NATO`s Wales Summit.
