Azerbaijan Republic Accuses US Envoy Of Interfering In Its Affairs

Baku, May 24, IRNA – Head of Presidential Office in Azerbaijan Republic strongly criticized US Ambassador to Baku and accused him of blatantly intervening in the countryˈs internal affairs. In an interview with State News Agency Azertaj, Mehdiov called west responsible for geopolitical tension in the world and said statement of the US ambassador to Baku is contrary to diplomatic attitude. Referring to use of imperious language of the US envoy to impose his views on an independent state, Mehdiov underlined that the ambassador should not forget that Azerbaijan Republic is not a colony of any other country. He underlined necessity of respect for national sovereignty of Azerbaijan Republic by the US envoy and ambassadors of other western countries, who are trying to use the same way as the US diplomat and emphasized that Azerbaijan Republic does not tolerate unacceptable behavior with Azerbaijan Republic. Mehdiov expressed regret over unacceptable interference of Ambassador Morningstar in internal affairs of his country and reminded that such a behavior will put his diplomatic background under question. Ramiz Mehdiov said that the US ambassador could not understand new political developments in the world and their viewpoints on the world is in contrary to time. The US ambassador, a few days ago, in an interview with Freedom Radio had said that the Azerbaijan Republic government is not homogeneous and Russian supporting groups are active in the country. He also named Iran and Russia as threats from south and north to Azerbaijan Republic and criticized Baku for human rights situation and democracy and warned against possible events similar to Ukraine in the country./end
