Azerbaijan, Spain sign convention to eliminate double taxation and tackle tax avoidance

Baku, April 23 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan and Spain have signed a Convention for the Elimination of Double Taxation with Respect to Income and Property Tax and Prevention of Tax Avoidance. The agreement was signed by Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov and his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo in Baku. Speaking at a press conference following the signing ceremony, Mr. Mammadyarov said there were good prospects for developing Azerbaijan-Spain relations. He stressed the necessity of elevating the bilateral ties to a desirable level. The FM hailed political relations between the two countries. “Spain has always supported Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh problem.” Spanish FM Garcia-Margallo called Azerbaijan “an important country” for Spain in the region. He said Spain wanted to sign a memorandum on political relations with Azerbaijan. The FM added the document was expected to be signed during the Azerbaijani President`s visit to Spain.
