Azerbaijani Deputy Premier meets Korean ambassador

Baku, April 24 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDP Affairs and the Republican Commission on International Humanitarian Aid Ali Hasanov has met Korean ambassador to the country Choi Suk-inn. The meeting focused on the future cooperation concerning the refugees and IDPs. Deputy Premier Ali Hasanov highlighted the Azerbaijan-Korea bilateral relations based on a solid foundation. Hasanov noted recently expanding cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, cultural and education fields, and expressed confidence the intergovernmental relations would continue to develop even further. He said that the country faced such a serious problem as the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict after regaining its independence and no progress had been achieved so far in negotiations to solve the dispute. He also expressed regret that the world, mighty countries had not put pressure on aggressive Armenia to establish justice as one million two hundred Azerbaijanis are suffering from the conflict. Ali Hasanov noted, “Of course, the country’s recent economic development opened up an opportunity for the Azerbaijani Government to assume responsibility for solution of problems of these persons. USD 5,4 billion were spent on this sphere in the last 20 years. To date, 82 modern towns were built with all social and technical infrastructure at the expense of the State Oil Fund. It helped to improving housing conditions for over 180 thousand people. Nevertheless, most of the IDPs and refugees continue to live plight because the dispute has not been solved yet.” The Korean ambassador thanked for sincere welcoming and detailed information and recalled his last year meeting with refugees and IDPs settled in Aghjabadi region. He expressed satisfaction with Azerbaijani Government’s efforts to improve living conditions of IDPs and refugees. The ambassador said that they also agreed with the Korean companies operating in Azerbaijan to carry out numerous competitions and projects aimed at helping to solve problems of these people. They also discussed the exchange of experience and education between Azerbaijani and Korean students and other issues of mutual concern.
