Azerbaijani FM meets Georgian Defence Minister

Baku, December 16, AZERTAC Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met with a delegation led by Defence Minister of Georgia Levan Izoria. Minister Elmar Mammadyarov noted the high level development of friendly and strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, and mentioned that both countries share the same perspectives on regional issues. He also stressed the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of economy and trade between the two countries. Expressing satisfaction with his first visit to Azerbaijan, Levan Izoria stated that he had very interesting and fruitful meeting with President Ilham Aliyev. The Minister said that the strategic partnership and friendship ties of the two countries play an important role for the regional stability, and noted that there are extensive relations and comprehensive action plan in the field of defence as well. Levan Izoria also touched upon the defence cooperation of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey on a trilateral basis and mentioned that the 5th meeting of Defence Ministers in this format will be held soon. At the meeting the ministers stressed the importance of adherence to the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of states. The sides also commended Azerbaijan and Georgia’s mutual support of each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and their shared positions on the settlement of the conflicts that both countries are facing only based on these principles. The two also exchanged their views on the other issues of mutual interest.
