Azerbaijani FM meets PACE rapporteur

Baku, December 16, AzerTAc Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov met the delegation led by Milica Markovic, rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on the topic “The inhabitants of the frontier regions of Azerbaijan who have been deliberately denied access to water”. According to the press service of the Ministry, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov spoke of the current status of the negotiation process towards the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and stressed the continuation of occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia remains the major source of problem. Furthermore, he added for the peaceful settlement of the conflict, first and foremost, the armed forces of Armenia must be withdrawn from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and the facts of occupation and aggression has to be eradicated”. Touching upon the consequences of aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, Minister Mammadyarov underlined that the Sarsang water reservoir became a source of humanitarian, environmental and man-made catastrophe. Milica Markovic stated that the associated problems created by Sarsang water reservoir and Tartar River for local inhabitants would be the main target of the report. The sides also exchanged views over the issues of mutual concern.
