Azerbaijani, Iraqi FMs meet in NY

Baku, September 26 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim al-Jaafari in New-York. During the meeting, the parties expressed their confidence on the current state of Azerbaijani-Iraqi relations. Ibrahim al-Jaafari gave information about the developments in his country. He noted during the last events in Iraq the infrastructure was severely damaged. Iraqi minister asked Azerbaijan to assist in restoration of the infrastructure. Elmar Mammadyarov stressed the importance of his last visit to Iraq. Azerbaijani Minister said constructive work is carried out towards assessing agreements reached at the meeting. Elmar Mammadyarov informed his counterpart on the current state of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and negotiations. Noting Armenia’s neglect against UN resolutions on the conflict’s regulations Minister Mammadyarov stressed support of the friendly countries on the problem’s regulation according to the principles of international law. Mammadyarov invited his Iraqi counterpart to Azerbaijan, what was accepted by Ibrahim al-Jaafari.
