Azerbaijani Ombudsman meets Greek ambassador

Baku, May 19 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights, Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova has today met Greek ambassador Dimitrios Tsoungas. Ms. Suleymanova highlighted what the Ombudsman Office had done to strengthen the protection of human rights in the country. She spoke of the Office`s cooperation with public bodies, NGOs, civil societies, and international and regional organizations, including the European Union and the Council of Europe. She said the Office was actively involved in Eastern Partnership initiative, and Twinning and TAIEX projects. They discussed ways of expanding cooperation between the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Office and Greece in the protection of human rights and freedoms. The Greek ambassador praised the Azerbaijani Ombudsman’s work to ensure the protection of human rights. He reaffirmed his interested in cooperating with the Office.
