Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker meets Deputy Chairman of CDU/CSU parliamentary group in Bundestag

Baku, September17 (AzerTAc). Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Parliament Ogtay Asadov has met Deputy Chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, MP Andreas Schockenhoff. Mr. Asadov said Azerbaijan attached great importance to developing relations with Germany. He stressed the importance of reciprocal visits in terms of strengthening the bilateral cooperation. The Speaker said European integration was among key foreign policy priorities of Azerbaijan. “We are closely cooperating within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and other international organizations. And continuous development of our relations within Euronest contributes to this,” he added. Mr. Asadov highlighted Azerbaijan`s achievements in the years of independence, particularly development of civil society and European integration. Mr. Schockenhoff said his visit was aimed at discussing Azerbaijan`s relations with regional countries, as well as security and socio-political situation in the region. They exchanged views over Azerbaijan`s cooperation with the European Union and the Council of Europe.
