Azerbaijani, Turkish FMs meet in Istanbul

Baku, October 29, AZERTAC Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met with Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on the sidelines of the Seventh Trilateral Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Republic of Turkey in Istanbul. The sides hailed the high level of cooperation between the two friendly and brotherly countries in all spheres and various formats, as well as the level of strategic alliance of political relations. The FMs emphasized the importance of further strengthening of the cooperation based on the strategic partnership, good neighborliness, mutual respect and trust. The sides exchanged their views on energy, transport, logistics and other regional projects implemented with the participation of the two countries. The ministers expressed their confidence that the inauguration of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway would make a significant contribution to the development of the region, increase of people-to-people contacts and trade turnover. The sides underlined that the regional projects initiated and implemented with the participation of Azerbaijan and Turkey will facilitate competitive transportation between Asia and Europe. Touching upon the negotiation process of peaceful resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov reiterated that Azerbaijan is ready to substantive negotiations. FM Mammadyarov underlined that the presence of the armed forces of Armenia in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan in a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council resolutions, continues to pose a serious threat to the whole region. They also discussed the bilateral cooperation in science, education, health and other fields.
