Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry spokesman comments on reports that Azerbaijani citizens were taken hostage in Turkey

Baku, August 1, AZERTAC Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev has commented on media reports alleging that Azerbaijani citizens were taken hostage by unknown armed men in Turkey and were later released. Mr. Hajiyev said that Azerbaijan`s Embassy to Turkey and Consulate General in Kars investigated the news together with the law enforcement bodies of Turkey. According to the information, the incident happened in the Kagizman region between Igdir and Kars. “There are no dead or injured among passengers, who include Azerbaijanis too. We are now determining the number of Azerbaijani citizens, who were in the bus. The diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan keeps in close touch with the Turkish law enforcement bodies.”
