Azeri President Aliyev Congratulates Iran's President-Elect Rohani

Baku, June 17, IRNA – Azerbaijan Republic President Ilham Aliyev sent a message to IRI President Elect Hojjatoleslam Hassan Rohani on Sunday congratulating him on the occasion of his victory in Iranˈs 11th presidential election. President Aliyev, in his message, referred to the high significance of the two countries’ relations, reiterating that these relations are based on the will of the two nations that have throughout the history enjoyed friendly coexistence as neighbors. Meanwhile, he referred to the shared spiritual values and traditions of the Iranian and Azerbaijani nations reiterating, “Mutual trust that has gone thru the test of history is the connection bond of our two nations.” Aliyev, at the end of his congratulation message, wished good health, well being, and success for President-Elect Rowhani in his efforts aimed at the welfare of the nation. On Friday election, Rohani secured 18,613,329 votes and was elected as Iran’s new president. He will officially take office on August 3 after taking oath and receiving a decree from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Rohani will succeed incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the seventh president of the Islamic Republic of Iran./end
