Bahrain-UK security cooperation discussed

Manama, Jan 24 (BNA): Interior Minister Lt-Gen Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa today received a British parliamentary delegation. Bahrain's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Public Security Chief Maj-Gen Tariq Al-Hassan were present. The minister briefed the British delegation on the Interior Ministry's efforts in maintaining security and public order, ensuring safety of all citizens, residents and protecting human rights values and principles in light of the royal reforms. Public Security Chief gave an overview of the Interior's strategy adopted for the development and updating security sectors by providing intensive training programmes and latest equipment, as well as benefiting from the leading expertise in the same area. He noted integrating a number of citizens of all governorates in the community police. Ways of enhancing cooperation and topics of joint interest were discussed. The British delegation commended the remarkable reforms witnessed by Bahrain, pointing the long-standing strategic bilateral relations in various fields, including security one, as well as joint efforts in combating threats faced by the homeland and protecting its stability.
