Baku hosts 61st meeting of Council for Rail Transport of CIS and Baltic states

Baku, October 21, AzerTAc The 61st meeting of the Council for Rail Transport of the CIS and the Baltic states has today started in Baku. The agenda of the meeting includes implementation of decisions adopted during the 60th meeting of the Council, results of railway network operations during the 9 months of the current year, traffic schedule of trains in 2015-2016 and etc. Speaking to the event, Azerbaijan`s Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov informed the attendees on the current state of railway, ongoing reforms and prospects. The Minister also spoke of the project achieved in realization of the East-West, North-South and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars international and regional transport corridors. The attendees then heard report by President of the Russian Railways company Vladimir Yakunin. The 2-day meeting brings together representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Moldova, Bulgaria, Finland and Estonia.
