Ban Ki-moon congratulates re-elected President

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr Ban Ki-moon sent Tuesday a congratulatory letter to Ts.Elbegdorj on getting a victory in the Presidential election. In his letter, Mr Ban noted that Mongolia has been contributing to ensuring the global peace and security by participating in the UN peacekeeping operations and collaborating with the UN in specific matters. Mr Ban emphasized that the P5 states affirmed last year the Mongolia’s nuclear weapon-free status and it was a remarkable event for the global efforts of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. Mentioning about some achievements in establishing the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries in Ulaanbaatar city, Mr Ban emphasized that he highly appreciates the President’s contribution to the international community’s efforts for ensuring the sustainable development and keeping the climate change issues under control. Mr Ban also notes in his letter that Mongolia has initiated the issue on education for democracy as chairing the Community of Democracies (CoD), and then hopes that Mongolia will continuously be an active supporter for the UN and the Mongolia-UN fruitful cooperation will expand under the term of the President.
