Barzani Appreciates Iranˈs Contributions To Kurds In Hard Times

Baghdad, Aug 11, IRNA – Head of Iraqi Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani in a letter addressed to President Hassan Rouhani late Sunday night appreciated Iranˈs support and contributions to Iraqi Kurds under current tough and critical conditions. In the letter, published in Iraqi and Kurdish websites, Barzani has emphasized that Iran has always been a good supporter and defender of the Kurds and that that is a proved fact in practice. ˈI am sure that the friendly relations, reciprocal contributions, and peaceful and brotherly coexistence between the Iranian nation and the Iraqi Kurdistan will not only continue, but also further strengthen,ˈ ensured Barzani. It is reiterated in the reports on the occasion in Kurdish media that ever since the beginning of the posed threats by the ISIS terrorist group and the emergence of the refugees crisis, the continuous flow of Iranian relief, food, and medical aids for the Iraqi Kurdistan region has been a great blessing for the Iraqi Kurds. The Iraqi Kurdish leader has also appreciated President Rouhani for permitting the Turkish trucks and trailers to use Iranˈs soil to transfer goods to the Iraqi Kurdistan region. Earlier, the former Iraqi foreign minister, Hoshyar Zebari, too, had appreciated Iran for its recent weeksˈ contributions to the Iraqi Kurdistan region. The central Iraqi government, Iran and the United States have been backing the Iraqi Kurds in different ways in recent weeks against the brutal onslaught of the ISIS terrorist who had made life tough both for the Kurds and for different religious minorities there, including the Christians and the Izadis./end
