Basij Commander Urges Muslims To Resist Against US

Tehran, Sept 2, IRNA - Head of Basij (volunteer) forces, Brigadier-General Mohammad Reza Naqdi on Tuesday urged Muslims to resist against Washington. Speaking to a gathering of Basij officials, he noted that Gaza victory over the Zionist regime proved that resistance is the only way to overcome Zionists and arrogant powers. Criticizing certain political groups that believe in compromise with the West in particular US, Naqdi advised not to trust Whitehouse officials. He added that liberation of the occupied lands should remain a goal for Muslim nations and help increase solidarity among them. Representatives of the Palestinian Resistance Movement and Israel last week reached a deal on a long-term ceasefire. The truce will rid the territory of its seven-year-old blockade. Israel launched an aerial military onslaught against Gaza civilians on July 8 and later expanded its operation with a ground invasion. More than 2,137 Palestinians, including around 570 children, have been killed so far in the Israeli atrocities in Gaza. Some 11,000 others have been wounded. Most of the victims were civilians, including children, women and the elderly. Tel Aviv says 68 Israeli soldiers were killed in the conflict, but Hamas puts the deaths of Israeli soldiers at more than 150./end
