Beijing certain Lavrov’s visit will help cement Russia-China ties - Foreign Ministry

BEIJING, April 18. /TASS/. The Chinese authorities are confident the upcoming visit to Beijing by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will help further cement relations with Russia, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying told reporters at a press briefing on Wednesday. "Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has just completed his successful trip to Russia, while [Russian Foreign Minister - TASS] Sergey Lavrov will pay an official visit to our country soon. These events, which occurred during one month, are indicative of a special nature of Chinese-Russian relations," she noted. "We are certain that the Russian foreign minister’s expected visit will help make the basis for high-level relations between Beijing and Moscow stronger." According to the diplomat, during the upcoming visit, Lavrov will meet with Chinese senior officials to discuss regional and global issues. Russia’s top diplomat will pay a visit to China on April 23-24 to take part in a ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Read more
