Berlin Concerned Over New Deadly Political Violence In Egypt

Berlin, Oct 6, IRNA - German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle here Saturday expressed deep concern over the latest wave of political violence in Egypt amid deadly clashes between supporters of deposed Egyptian president Mohammad Morsi and security forces. I urge those responsible in Egypt not to pour oil in the fire and to prevent a repeat of bloody violent escalations in the streets of Egypt, Westerwelle was quoted saying. At least four people were killed and dozens injured during street clashes on Friday as thousands of Morsi's followers took to the streets in Cairo and the northern city of Alexandria to demonstrate against the country's interim rulers. Hundreds have been killed in Egypt since Morsi's overthrow, in clashes involving his supporters, opponents and security forces. Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood and its political allies have denounced the ouster of Egypt's first democratically elected president as a coup and vowed to continue protesting until he is reinstated./end
