Berri: Iranˈs Initiative Could Be Base For Anti-terrorism Campaign

Beirut, Feb 16, IRNA – Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri urged the 9th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States to adopt Iranˈs initiative to fight terrorism in a bid to help solve regional problems. Talking to IRNA on Sunday prior to start of his tour of a number of regional countries, he said Iranˈs initiative could set the basis for settling the Syrian crisis as well. He said during his visit to Tehran which is aimed at attending the OIC meeting he would ask the participants to work out a way to orchestrate efforts to fight terrorism which is speedily spreading across the region. The OIC parliaments meeting is to start in Tehran on Tuesday. He said his main concern is penetration of terrorists into Lebanon. Berri reiterated that the threat of terrorism has been doubled since it has been guided and financially and militarily supported by a single source./end
