Biography Of Jannati, Proposed Minister Of Culture And Islamic Guidance

Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA – President Hassan Rohani in his swearing-in ceremony at Majlis on Sunday proposed Ali Jannati to the portfolio of Minister of Culture and the Islamic Guidance. The following is the summary of his biography: Born in 1949, Jannati is a politician and Iranian diplomat, being son of the Secretary of the Guardian Council Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati. He used to be Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for International Affairs, Iran's Ambassador to Kuwait and Deputy Interior Minister for Political Affairs. He also served in the capacities of Director of the Channel 1 of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, Acting head of the Culture and Islamic Communications Organization, Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the Cultural and Social Committee at the Supreme National Security Council, Deputy Interior Minister for Political Affairs and foreign policy researcher in the Strategic Research Center. Among his former capacities are manager of the Ahvaz branch of the IRIB, Judiciary envoy to IRIB, governor general of Khuzestan Province, member of the Khatamulanbia headquarters and commander-in-chief of Armed Forces in Khorassan Province. He has also some political campaign in his record in former Shah regime. He is a graduate of Haghani School in holy city of Qom./end
