Blast Near Political Party Office Injures 7 Persons In Karachi

Islamabad, May 4 ,IRNA-- A bomb blast near office of a political party in the Pakistani port city of Karachi injured seven people late Thursday, police and witnesses said. The blast occurred on the busy Burns Road near the election of the powerful group Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). Ambulances arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to hospital. Hospital sources said that at least seven injured were brought for treatment. The blast smashed glasses of shops and nearby buildings. The blast created panic in the area and all businesses were shut down on crowded Burns Road, a densely populated area near the main business and trading districts of Karachi. The Taliban have threatened the three mainstream political parties in the outgoing government, the Pakistan Peoples Party, the Awami National Party and the MQM. Taliban say the three parties are pursuing secular doctrine and that they had supported the security forcesˈ operations against the militants. Prime Minister Justice (R) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has strongly condemned the bomb blast near the election office of MQM in Karachi, which resulted into injuries to several innocent people. The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured and prayed for their early recovery./end
