Boroujerdi: Majlis Supports Expansion Of Ties With Muslim African States

Tehran, Oct 29, IRNA – Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Tuesday that Majlis supports expansion of relations with Muslim African states. In a meeting with Somali parliamentary delegation led by Abdullah B. Ahmad, Boroujerdi said Iranian parliament supports expansion of cordial relations with Muslim countries of Africa, especially Somalia. Boroujerdi emphasized importance of expansion of relations among Muslim countries, including Iran and Somalia. He said Iran’s principled policy is based on developing closer relations with Muslim states in the political, economic and cultural domains. He noted that unity among Muslims and Muslim countries against the global bullying powers is the key to their strength. “Muslim countries will have much impact on international engagements in light of religious injunctions of Islam as well as unity and solidarity,” he said. Deploring the sufferings of the Muslim World caused by terrorism, Boroujerdi said the al-Qaeda and al-Nasra terrorist groups in Syria serve interests and policies of the US and the UK by merciless killing of Muslims. Abdullah B. Ahmad in turn called Iran the “hope” of Muslim states to encounter the world’s powerful states. “Somali parliament considers expansion of political-economic relations, especially parliamentary ties with Iran, its priority.” He urged easing visa issuance for Somali traders in Iran for the industrial and commercial cooperation./end
