Britain thanks Turkish government for Afghanistan conference, British minister says

LONDON (A.A) - November 4, 2011 - British Foreign Office Minister with responsibility for the Middle East and Afghanistan, Alistair Burt, has said that he would like to thank Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu for hosting the Istanbul Conference for Afghanistan. Replying to a question by AA correspondent, Burt said that works that had been conducted by Turkey were appreciated. Istanbul Conference for Afghanistan was important indication of improvement in Afghanistan, he said. Britain appreciated efforts made by Turkish government and foreign ministry for the conference, he said. Regarding the current situation in Syria, Burt said that violence and pressure on Syrian people must be ended.
