British PM David Cameron Visits Indonesia

Jakarta, July 26 (Antara) - British prime minister David Cameron is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on Monday for a meeting with President Joko Widodo in the framework of strengthening the two countries' economic cooperation. "He will meet with President Joko Widodo and the Indonesian government. This will be his second visit but the first after he was reelected as prime minister in May," British ambassador to Indonesia Moazzam Malik said at a press briefing at the British embassy here on Sunday. He said in the meeting with the Indonesian government he would discuss financial, energy, infrastructure and technology issues. "Indonesia is Britain's strategic partner besides China in the Asian region in the 21st century and therefore Indonesia will be the first country that Cameron will visit during his Asia tour," he said. Moazzam said Cameron was also scheduled to meet with business leaders in Indonesia. "This has to do with business regulations and climate in Indonesia to assure arrivals of investors to Indonesia," he said. He said Cameron would also discuss a bit about terrorism and Islamic State militant group as it has become a common problem. "It is estimated 500 Indonesians have joined the IS group in Iraq and Syria," he said. Prime Minister David Cameron will be in Indonesia for two days until July 28.
