Bushehr nuclear power plant to be phased out for 2 months

BUSHEHR, Mar. 02 (MNA) – Bushehr nuclear power plant will be phased out for 2 months to be reserved for summertime demand peaks. AEOI (Atomic Energy Organization of Iran) official website reported that according to a pre-planned scheme, Bushehr nuclear power plant would be phased out starting March 1 2015 for 2 months. The decision came with the premise that the power plant would be ready to contribute to the national grid in summertime demand peaks. Bushehr nuclear power plant has now operated for 190 days; if had continued to operate with the current pace, the power plant would have been phased out for placing fuel rods in a time when the power plant production of power was extremely needed by the national grid in summertime demand peak. The measure seems justified with the prospect of a hot summer of 2015 when the national grid would not manage to meet the excessive demand in utilities.
