CABINET MEETING IN BRIEF

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ On Wednesday, the cabinet backed in principle a draft amendment to an appendix of the parliamentary resolution on approving basic guidelines of privatizing and restructuring the state properties in 2010-2012. It has been initiated by Ya.Batsuuri MP. - The cabinet backed a draft amendment to the law on the National Commission for Human Rights and then decided to submit it to the State Great Khural, after having got acquainted with a report on implementation of the program on ensuring human rights in Mongolia. - Ulaanbaatar city will host the Asia-Europe Meeting's (ASEM) environmental ministerial high-level meeting themed “Sustainable management of water and forest” on May 22-23, 2012. Mongolia plans to propagandize the governmental policy and position in water and forest management and to forward its initiative on organizing a high-level meeting of Northeast Asia in order to draw attention to expanding of regional and international collaboration in this sphere. - The cabinet appreciated results of an official visit of the Foreign Minister G.Zandanshatar to China paid on January 11-15, 2012. The Minister has been obliged to approve a plan of works to be done in line of the visit and to control the plan's implementation. - The cabinet considered as necessary to import labor force and experts from foreign countries in order to construct paved-roads of 432 km in a route Choir--Sainshand--Zamyn-Uud, 100 km in a route Ulaanbaatar--Mandalgobi, 163 km in a route Mandalgobi--Dalanzadgad, and construct apartments in a scope of the “100 thousand apartments” national program, and to erect a plant of gas fuel. - In accordance with the cabinet decision, 100th birth anniversaries of Marshal J.Lhagvasuren and of Lieutenant-General B.Tsog, the Heroes of Mongolia, will be celebrated in March this year. The Defense Minister J.Enkhbayar has been ordered to take measures for marking the anniversaries. - The cabinet decided to register the tooth of the Buddha in the List of Historical and Cultural Valuables. A working group will be set up responsible for related actions. The fang-shaped tooth of Gautama Buddha dates back to 624-544 BCE. According to history, the Relics of the Buddha were distributed to eight different places. B.Khuder
