Calls on Iran to provide access to all military facilities ‘unlawful’ - Russian diplomat

VIENNA, June 3. /TASS/. Moscow believes the demands that Iran should provide access to all military facilities are "unlawful," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has told reporters. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts will get a "regulated" access but this should not become a precedent in the international practice, the diplomat said. "The regime of access must not create precedents. It is unique and is worked out exclusively for the tasks that are solved in regard to the problem of restoring trust for the peaceful character of the Iranian nuclear program," Ryabkov stressed. There are a range of facilities in Iran that have no relation to the nuclear program, he added. "The other facilities, if there are any suspicions, may be considered as part of an element of a new scheme of visits of Iran’s territory, but an ordinary regime is needed for them," Ryabkov said. Speaking on the so-called "regulated access" for the IAEA experts, he said the amount of this access and the procedures that need to be implemented were up for the discussion. "The place where the access will be is an issue for the unique agreements that are unprecedented," he stressed. The political directors from the six world powers - five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany - will gather in Vienna on Wednesday to continue the work on the final deal with Iran on its nuclear program.
